Personal Effectiveness

Course Description

What makes a person effective? Personal effectiveness is having both the aptitude and attitude to reach one's full potential and maximise contribution to organisational goals. Through profiling tools and a strength-based approach to excellence, participants will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and learn how to make the most of their personal resources - their personal talents, energy and time - to be the best that they can be. 

Course Objective:

This course will help you stay in control and focused on business priorities, so that you achieve the best results from your own and your colleagues' efforts.


Interactive session, Case studies discussion, Group activities, Video clips and discussion with trainer including feedback and evaluations.

Course Content

Lesson 1: Introduction

  • Understand individual levels of interpersonal skills 
  • Understand the importance of communicating effectively to bridge diversity
  • Understand sources of miscommunication by appreciating how differences in culture, age, gender etc contribute to our communication preferences

Lesson 2: Personal Alignment

  • Strength-based approach to excellence
  • Clarify my Priorities
  • Set SMART Goals

Lesson 3: Improving Team Effectiveness

  • Experiencing how group members organize themselves to accomplish tasks
  • Being aware of behaviours that obstruct or contribute to team effectiveness
  • Experimenting with abandoning old behaviour and/or adopting new behaviour
  • Taking initiative

Lesson 4: Stress Management

  • Identify causes of stress that affect yourself and the team
  • Apply stress management techniques
  • Use Time Management Matrix to manage urgent and important tasks
  • Understand how to communicate well under stress

Lesson 5: Enhancing Communication

  • Understanding the various communication styles by exploring different communication continuums 
  • Adapt your communication styles to strengthen relationships and improve team dynamics
  • Understand barriers to effective communication and how to overcome them
  • Use appropriate body language and tone

Lesson 6: Developing Action Plans

  • Chart my personal road map
  • Develop my growth plan
  • Understand my strengths and intelligences
  • Leverage and grow your strengths
