Apply Teamwork in the Workplace

Course Description

Teamwork in the workplace offers the company and staff the ability to become more familiar with each other and learn how to work together. There are several ways in which teamwork is important and vital to the success of the company and to the development of each employee. Understanding those important elements will assist in developing company policies geared toward encouraging team growth in the workplace.

Through an experiential challenge, where participants are broken up into groups, they will be brought through four successive phases of collaboration and teamwork, strategic thinking, execution, and influencing and communication. In the process, participants will better understand their strengths in those four domains and their behavioural preferences. They will also develop greater confidence in their strengths in those domains and utilize them constructively to contribute to their teams at work.

Course Objective

This course will equip participants to:

  • Understand how a team works
  • Understand the Characteristics of Effective Teams
  • Understand team culture, and the implications of personal variances
  • Understand their strengths in the four domains of collaboration and teamwork, strategic thinking,execution, and influencing and communication
  • Understand their behavioural preferences to improve collaboration and teamwork
  • Have confidence in utilizing their strengths to make good decisions and contributions to their teams
  • Actively take initiative and ownership in team projects

Training Methodologies

Interactive session, Experiential Activity, Case studies discussion, Group activities, Video clips and discussion with trainer including feedback and evaluations.

Lesson 1: Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Understanding team work
  • Team goals and roles
  • Balancing within a team
  • Understanding and resolving conflict
  • Profiling and strength-based approach
  • Overview of experiential group activity

Lesson 2: Profiling for Enhanced Communication and Teamwork

  • Understand your unique behavioural preference through interactive activity and profiling
  • Understand the different communication styles of different personality types
  • Appreciate the strengths and weakness of the different behavioural preferences
  • Adapt your communication styles to strengthen collaboration and improve team dynamics
  • Understand your stress profile and how you communicate under stress
  • Understand barriers to effective communication and how to overcome them
  • Mapping of teams’ behavioural preferences

Lesson 3: Strategic Thinking

  • Strategic planning in group activity
  • Uncover participants’ unique strengths in strategic thinking
  • Facilitated discussion and sharing on strategic thinking strengths demonstrated in the activity
  • Taking initiative to apply the strategic thinking strengths in their teams

Lesson 4: Execution

  • Execution in experiential group activity
  • Uncover participants’ unique strengths in executing
  • Understand how the executing strengths make things happen
  • Facilitated discussion and sharing on executing strengths demonstrated in the activity
  • Utilising the executing strengths in taking ownership and decision making in their teams

Lesson 5: Influencing and Communication

  • Presentation by the groups on the design and execution of the group activity
  • Uncover participants’ unique strengths in influencing and communication
  • Facilitated discussion and sharing on influencing and communication strengths demonstrated in the activity
  • Consolidated mapping of individual and group strengths in the four domains
  • Actively utilising and applying the different strengths in their teams at work
